📖 Description:
Assistant Teachers are trainee instructors gaining hands-on experience by shadowing and observing Support and Lead Teachers. They assist both Support and Lead Teachers by dancing with students and reinforcing key techniques on a one-to-one basis. They also observe students and provide feedback on teaching methodology and delivery to the Support and Lead Teachers.
📖 Description:
Support Teachers assist Lead Teachers by delivering parts of the curriculum and offering technical guidance to students. Support teachers with complementary skills to the Lead teacher can take responsibility for delivering specific techniques, provided it is agreed with the Lead beforehand.
They gain hands-on teaching experience by following the direction of the Lead Teacher and actively seeking feedback to refine their skills. At the same time, they provide feedback to the Lead on teaching methodology and delivery to help create an inclusive learning environment.
When appropriate, they may substitute for the Lead Teacher (paid at the Lead rate).
📖 Description:
Lead Teachers are experienced instructors responsible for planning and delivering classes including courses, drop-ins, workshops, and events. They use the Queer Salsa curriculum to deliver the courses, adapting the delivery and methodology as required to meet student needs. They may explore new teaching approaches and content in drop-ins and workshops.
In addition to leading classes, Lead Teachers guide and support Assistants and Support Teachers and empower them to develop their teaching skills. They are responsive to feedback from assistants, support teachers, Guardian Dancers and hosts and adapt their teaching methodology accordingly. They are continuously refining their skills and experience to create an inclusive environment for students to learn the curriculum to a high-standard.
📖 Description:
Co-Teachers are instructors who work in pairs to plan and deliver classes across courses, Drop-Ins, workshops, and events. They share responsibility for delivering the curriculum, refining teaching approaches and methodology according to relevant experience, and ensuring a high-quality, inclusive learning experience. This role is ideal for Support Teachers taking on more responsibility by co-leading with a more experienced Lead Teacher, two Leads with complementary specialisms, or two equally experienced instructors who thrive in a collaborative teaching environment.
